Who we are
A school built for the children who were being left out.
Al-Ibrab Memorial School (A.I.M.S.) stands in the ancient city of Kano, Northern Nigeria. We are a privately owned institution, and from the day we opened our doors our purpose has been narrow and deliberate: quality education for orphans and less privileged children.
We teach children from ages 4 to 11, and continue into secondary education so that no pupil has to leave us mid-journey. Every applicant is interviewed so we can place them in the class where they will actually thrive, rather than the one their age suggests.
- Primary from age 4, with exceptional entry into Class 3 at 6–7 years
- Secondary education, so pupils transition without changing schools
- Application forms are free — cost is never a barrier to applying
- Scholarships covering 50–100% of fees for exceptional pupils
A day at A.I.M.S.
Morning to home time, the way a child lives it.
None of it is remarkable, and that is exactly the point. An ordinary school day is the thing a sponsorship actually buys.
First thing
Assembly
The whole school in the yard, in full uniform — the uniform, shoes and books a year's fee covers.
Mid-morning
Lessons
Every pupil sits in the class where they will actually thrive, rather than the one their age suggests.
Break
Fruit Day
One of the fixtures in the school calendar that isn't a lesson, and the one they remember.
Home time
Back tomorrow
Which, for most of the children here, is precisely what somebody else's ₦10,000 paid for.
Where every naira goes
So what does a year actually cost?
₦30,000 — the whole year, nothing held back for later. It can be split across three terms for convenience: ₦10,000 at the start of the year, then ₦10,000 in each of the two terms that follow. Payment is due on or before the first day of term unless another arrangement has been agreed.
- Tuition — three terms (₦25,000)
- Uniform, school shoes and books (₦5,000)

Your part in it
Choose what you can give. See exactly what it does.
Our fees are published and unchanged: ₦10,000 buys one term of tuition. Nothing here is an estimate — it is arithmetic on our own fee sheet.
How it works
Three steps, and a child goes back to class.
Choose your amount
Give once or monthly, in naira or in dollars. There is no minimum — gifts under one term's fee are pooled toward the next scholarship place.
We match it to a pupil
Scholarship places are awarded on the results of our admission examinations and renewed each year on continued performance and conduct.
You hear how they're doing
At the end of each term we write to sponsors with how the school year is going and where the term's funds went.
Life at A.I.M.S.
Ordinary school days, which is the whole point.
Voices
The people who would know.
A school is easy to describe and hard to vouch for. These are the families and sponsors who can actually say whether any of the above is true.
We publish a family's words only once they have given consent, and we never place a child's name beside their photograph.

Take the next step
One term. ₦10,000. One child who stays in school.
Most of our pupils are here because someone else paid. You can be that someone for a term, a year, or a whole scholarship place.
